Antique Thai Style Bronze Standing Four Arm Vishnu Statue - Protector - 108cm/43"
Measurements Height 108cm/43"
Antique Thai style bronze Vishnu sculpture, stood samabhanga on a round double lotus leaf base.
Vishnu is both world protector and preserver, restorer of moral order - he is all-powerful and all-pervasive by nature. Here Vishnu holds in his four arms a conch shell between first two fingers of one hand. The conch shell is spiral and symbolizes our interconnected spiralling cyclic existence.
One of his arms carries a gada. A club or mace named Kaumodaki which symbolizes authority and power of knowledge. In the fourth arm, he holds a lotus flower our Padma, which symbolizes purity and transcendence.
The Vishnu has perfect balance and proportions which are the key to a fine Vishnu sculpture. The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face and hands. Each detail is rendered perfectly. The patina and details of this piece are particularly appealing.
